REPORT FROM THE CHAIR
Once again we look back at 2016 a year of many changes.
We began the year with Heritage‘s 21st Anniversary. Our guest preacher for the occasion was Reverend Tom Watson, a former Colborne minister, half of the amalgamated Colborne/ Wellington congregation that became Heritage. Warren Gedcke was guest organist and Raelynn Found Soloist. A celebration followed with lunch and cake in Calder Hall.
The Heritage board met once a month until July at which time a joint board was formed with co-chairs. Larry Timpener, Heritage chair and Yvonne Wright as Sydenham’s chair. Co-treasurers were Heritage’s treasurer Norma Janzen and Sydenham’s treasurer Larry Pickard. The committees blended together and have worked well. Thank you to the Board Members Trustees and Committee Chairs and Members for all your hard work and dedication over the past year. We look forward to a great future as a faith community working together to the glory of God.
Thank you to Reverend Bill MacKinnon for his care and concern, visiting the sick and shut ins and consol-ing the bereaved. A special thank you to Reverend Wayne Beamer for his extraordinary leadership and spir-itual guidance during this time of transition. Bill and Wayne we have been blessed to have experienced your special talents.
REPORT FROM THE TRUSTEES
The Trustees have been meeting on an as-needed basis to monitor the financial situation in respect to the Heritage Congregation.
We continue to receive regular mortgage cheques from the sale of the Colborne Street property. We have had some concerns re the stability of the purchasers but, so far, the mortgage cheques continue to come in.
Please see the consolidated financial statement for the financial picture of the Trustees.
FINANCE COMMITTEE/TREASURER’S REPORT
I would like to thank all the members of Heritage United Church for your continuing financial support during our final year. As the Income and Expense Statement that follows shows, we still had a deficit, but it was much smaller than it has been in recent years. We fulfilled our intention to pay Sydenham Street United Church $42,000 as our share of expenses.
I would like to thank John Janzen for helping with the postings to the contributions program, and Anne Walker for doing the bank reconciliations. Anne Walker and Cindy Cleaves also shared the responsibility for counting, recording and depositing of Sunday offerings.
As I leave our old computer programs and bookkeeping methods behind, I look forward to the challenges I will face as the Treasurer of the new Sydenham-Heritage congregation.
